Tycen William Anderson, born on June 13, 1999, is a distinguished American professional safety player for the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that is a part of the National Football League (NFL). Born and bred in Toledo, Ohio, Anderson discovered his passion for football early in life, and as he advanced through his educational journey, he simultaneously honed his sporting skills.

During his attendance at St. John’s Jesuit High School and Academy in his hometown, he didn’t limit his athletic pursuits to football alone. Anderson competed in basketball and track too, showcasing his all-round athletic prowess. He was a well-rounded student-athlete who, in addition to being dedicated to his academic endeavors, also showed an immeasurable commitment to advancing in his chosen sports.

Of all the athletic sports he was involved in, Anderson demonstrated superior proficiency in football. As a result of his demonstrated exceptional talent on the field, Anderson received multiple offers to further his collegiate football career. These came from respected institutions such as Air Force, Kentucky, Bowling Green, and Eastern Kentucky, which are renowned for their exceptional athletic programs. However, Anderson’s commitment to his hometown reflected in his decision to accept an offer from Toledo, which by far provided unparalleled support to his ambition of pursuing professional football later.

As a freshman at Toledo, Anderson’s statistics were impressive. He took to the field in all 14 of Toledo’s games and made a significant impact, recording 30 tackles along with four passes broken up. This set the foundation for his subsequent accolades that decorated his career at Toledo. His sophomore year was marred by the unprecedented Coronavirus pandemic, which shortened the Mid-American Conference (MAC) season to only six games. Despite this setback, Anderson made his mark by being named to the second-team All-Mid-American Conference (MAC).

The Coronavirus pandemic not only affected the duration of the conference but also offered an extra year of eligibility to college athletes. Anderson decided to capitalize on this opportunity and returned to Toledo for a fifth season to end his collegiate career on a high note. His final season statistics included 44 tackles, two passes broken up, and one sack.

Upon conclusion of his college football career, Anderson turned his attention to the NFL. The 2022 NFL Draft saw the Cincinnati Bengals pick him with their 166th overall pick during the fifth round. This marked the beginning of his professional football journey, although it was not without its share of obstacles. He was placed on injured reserve shortly after the beginning of the season, specifically on September 2, 2022 due to a health setback.

His recovery period led to him beginning the 2023 season as the backup free safety behind the prominent Daxton Hill. Despite the backup role, Anderson contributed significantly to the team, specifically on special teams during kick and punt returns. However, during the Week 8 game against the San Francisco 49ers, Anderson sustained a concerning ACL injury which, even though he played through it initially, ultimately led to him being placed on injured reserve prematurely ending his season. Despite this, he ended the season with a commendable record, with a total of eight tackles, all of which were made during special teams plays.
