Born on August 26, 1998, Trevor Denbow has emerged as one of the robust players in American professional football. Holding the position of a safety for the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League (NFL), his journey reflects a narrative of hard work, perseverance, and relentless strive. Denbow’s football career took a prominent turn when he attended Navarro for his freshman year of college. As a young, ambitious player, he accepted a scholarship offer from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in December 2017 and was enrolled a month afterward. His sophomore year at SMU revealed an increased level of his performance as he appeared in 12 games with eight as a starter. The season wrapped up with Denbow recording 41 tackles, a half-sack, and 3.5 TFLs. On account of his performance, he was selected third-team preseason all-conference by Phil Steele the next year. The year 2019 was a big one for Denbow as he started all 13 games and significantly contributed with 64 total tackles, a half-sack, and one forced fumble, also serving as the team’s punter, showing his versatility.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many games were cut short in the 2020 season. However, Denbow stood tall and played all 10 games as a senior, scoring 27 tackles, 7.0 TFLs, and one sack. Thanks to an extra year of eligibility, he restarted the field for a super senior season in 2021, making his contribution through all 12 games and recorded 40 total tackles, including two interceptions.

Despite the stride and strong performance, Denbow went unselected in the 2022 NFL draft. However, his determination didn’t falter, and he got signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent, procuring a contract that included $10,000 guaranteed and a $15,000 signing bonus. Making it to the final roster in August, he faced a minor setback as he was placed on injured reserve but quickly bounced back, returning in October.

Denbow’s NFL debut was in the Colts’ competition against the New England Patriots, and even though Colts faced a setback, Denbow proved his mettle by appearing on 16 special teams snaps. By 2023, he had signed a reserve/future contract and was progressing in his career. Almost a year later, Denbow received another wave of success as he penned a one-year contract extension with the Colts.

Maintaining a strong connection with his roots, Denbow is the proud grandson of Don Denbow, former mayor of Corsicana. His grandfather was not only a star football player at SMU but was also a first-round draft choice of the LA Dodgers. He is also closely related to Monica Aldama, a stellar cheer coach at Navarro College and the focus of the Netflix docuseries entitled ‘Cheer,’ owing to his marriage to her daughter.
