Trenton Gill Bio
Trenton Gill is a football punter who entered the NFL with the Chicago Bears in the 2022 draft. From Hillsborough, North Carolina, he attended Cedar Ridge High School, where he handled placekicking and punting duties. He also played tennis and earned all-state recognition in soccer before continuing his football career at NC State.
Gill joined the Wolfpack as a walk-on and redshirted in 2017. He earned a scholarship before the 2019 season and won the starting punter job during preseason camp. His college honors included third-team All-ACC recognition in 2019 and first-team honors in his final season. He also handled kickoffs, earned Academic All-ACC recognition and was named to the 2020 AFCA Allstate Good Works Team for community service.
Chicago selected Gill in the seventh round, with the 255th overall pick, in 2022. He served as the Bears’ punter during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Tampa Bay promoted him from its practice squad on October 23, 2024, and he handled both punting and kickoff duties before being waived on December 2, 2024. Atlanta added him to its practice squad on January 1, 2026; the NFL’s transaction log records that the Falcons waived him on April 27, 2026.
