Taybor Pepper's Biography

Taybor Pepper is a notable figure in professional American football, presently serving as a long snapper for the esteemed San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). Born on May 28, 1994, he embarked on his football career at a young age, eventually earning accolades as he landed on the prestigious turf of the NFL.

Pepper’s journey into the world of football began at Michigan State University (MSU). Proving to be more than competent in the field, he started in the position of long snapper for his entire stint at MSU, from 2012 to 2016. These four years placed Pepper in a total of 54 career games, testifying his undeniable contributions to the team.

These contributions did not go unnoticed. In the year 2015, football analyst Phil Steele recognized Pepper’s competence on the pitch, including him in the second All-America team in the preseason. However, despite such recognition, Pepper went undrafted in the 2016 NFL draft, leaving him unsigned for the remainder of the season.

It was on January 27, 2017, that Pepper’s NFL journey began when he secured a place on the reserve/futures contract with the Green Bay Packers. That summer, Pepper tried his luck with another team, signing with the Baltimore Ravens on August 28, 2017. Unfortunately, he was waived by the organization just a few days later.

Less than a month later, Pepper found himself back with the Packers. Appointed as the replacement for the injured Brett Goode on September 25, 2017, he was able to return to professional play. It was, however, short-lived. As a result of a broken foot suffered during practice, Pepper was placed on injured reserve on November 3, 2017.

With the onset of 2019, Pepper received a career boost. On January 2, he signed another reserve/future contract, this time with the New York Giants. But his stint with the Giants was short, as he was waived on August 31, 2019.

Just days after being released from the Giants, Pepper joined the Miami Dolphins on September 2, 2019. This collaboration was also temporary and he was waived from the Dolphins on April 26, 2020. Despite the setbacks, Pepper’s talent prevailed.

The most recent and significant development in Pepper’s career came on September 30, 2020, when he signed with the San Francisco 49ers. His position became a little uncertain when he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team towards the end of 2020. However, he was activated not long afterward, on February 2, 2021.

Two days later, on February 4, 2021, Pepper solidified his place in the team by signing a two-year contract extension with the 49ers. This relationship between the player and the team seemed destined to prosper, as made evident by another contract extension, signed for three years, on February 25, 2023.
