Tae Daley's Biography

Born on the 8th of October 1998 in Miami, Florida, O’montae Devondre Daley, carved a name for himself in the world of professional football as a respected defensive back.

In his formative years, Daley discovered his passion for football while schooling at Northside High School at Warner Robins, Georgia. His high school years were characterized by significant contributions to his team where he amassed impressive statistics, including 84 tackles, five interceptions, eight pass breakups and four forced fumbles during his senior year. However, Daley’s skills were not confined to football alone. He also was a letterman in soccer during high school demonstrating his versatility and his willingness to compete.

In 2017, Daley took a stride further in his football career when he joined Vanderbilt to play college football. His tenure at Vanderbilt would span from 2017 to 2019. As a freshman, Daley took part in 11 games, charting five tackles for the season. His playing career at Vanderbilt was not without its share of adversity. In the same year, Daley was unfortunate to receive a non-critical gunshot wound in his leg as he tried to help a teammate recover a stolen cell phone.

After his first year, Daley didn’t allow the injury to derail his dreams. In the subsequent year, he gained even more field time when he appeared in 13 games, starting eight of them. That year, he amassed 45 tackles and recorded three pass breakups. His progression didn’t stop there as he earlier recorded 57 tackles, three interceptions, and a forced fumble from nine starts during the 2019 season.

In a world stricken by the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020, Daley opted out of the season to keep himself and those around him safe. Later on, in 2021, Daley decided to further his academic and athletic interests at Virginia Tech. As a competitive asset to the team, Daley appeared in 13 games, starting 10 of them. His fantastic performance included recording 73 tackles, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble. His performance rewarded him with an invite to the 2022 Tropical Bowl.

Upon graduating, Daley set his sights on a professional career in football. He joined the ranks of the National Football League (NFL) on May 16, 2022, after signing with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent since he went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft. From there, he faced a string of misfortunes as he was waived/injured on August 30, ultimately reverting to injured reserve on August 31. In November that year, he was waived from the injured reserve list.

Recovering from his setback, Daley then signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) on May 26, 2023. This brought with it a different set of expectations as he was shuffled between the practice and active roster a few times during the 2023 season. However, he still managed to dress in three games that year, starting two and recording five tackles on defense and one special teams tackle. By July 29, 2023, he was put on injured reserve again.
