Robbie Anderson's Biography

Robbie Chosen, also known as Robby Anderson, was born on May 9, 1993, in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. As a child, he relocated to South Florida. A gifted athlete, he attended South Plantation High School, playing football under the school banner. An exceptional player, Chosen received offers from several prestigious universities, but ultimately chose Temple University to play college football for the Temple Owls.

At Temple, he started his career primarily as a defensive back. However, under the guidance of the new head coach, Matt Rhule, he switched positions to wide receiver in 2013. In his first year in the new role, Chosen caught 44 passes for 791 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. At the end of the year, he made school history by setting a record for the most receiving yards in a single game.

Unfortunately, his academic issues cost him the 2014 season, which he spent attending a local community college in Florida. Despite this setback, Chosen returned to make his mark in his senior year, achieving significant personal milestones and cementing his status as a football standout. His impressive performance earned him a place on the Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Conference and the Third Team All-Conference. He was also invited to play in the 2016 East–West Shrine Game.

Although Chosen remained undrafted in the 2016 NFL draft despite a noteworthy 4.36-second 40-yard dash, opportunity knocked his door in the form of a three-year, $1.63 million contract with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. In his rookie season, he made significant contributions to the Jets, eventually becoming a starter following injury to Eric Decker. His first professional touchdown and consistent performance underscored his worth in the NFL.

Initiating his second season with the Jets on a high note, his performance fluctuated, often marred by frustrations like limited targets. However, his standout performance came in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons, whereby his exceptional playing style earned him recognition and respect among his peers and sports pundits.

After two successful seasons with the Jets, he exhibited a dip in his performance in the initial four games of the 2018 season. However, he turned around his fortunes, particularly during Week 5 against the Denver Broncos with two significant touchdowns. Although the Jets lost 38-44 in overtime to the Green Bay Packers, Chosen still finished the season as the Jets’ leading receiver.

In 2019, despite some fluctuations in his performance, Chosen still exhibited exceptional receiving abilities throughout the season. Subsequently, in April 2020, he signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers, reuniting with former coach Matt Rhule. With the Panthers, Chosen marked an astonishing debut, and throughout the season, his performances were lauded among pundits and fans alike. Such impressive stats led him to renew his contract in 2021.

Chosen’s stint with the Panthers was indeed remarkable. Still, his career took a sudden turn when he entered into an argument with the wide receiver coach, following which the interim head coach, Steve Wilks, decided to trade him to the Arizona Cardinals. However, his run with the Cardinals remained short-lived as he was released in 2023.

Subsequent to his release from the Cardinals, Chosen signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins, with whom he undertook a short yet successful campaign. However, his tenure with the Dolphins ended abruptly, and Chosen found himself in the San Francisco 49ers team. Cornered by circumstances yet again, he was released by the 49ers in 2024.

In the years following, Chosen signed with a couple of other teams, occasionally showcasing performances reminding the fraternity of his exceptional athletic prowess. However, he could barely hold on to a spot in the active roster, frequently rotating between active play and the practice squad. By August 2024, he returned as a member of the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad.

Today, as a free agent, Chosen’s journey in the field of professional football continues to be a constant testament to his skill, determination, and resilience. Despite the ups and downs of his professional journey, Chosen has remained committed to his craft, striving to continually develop as an athlete. His inspiring journey serves as a reminder of the unrelenting spirit of sportsmanship, serving as an inspiration for many aspiring athletes worldwide.
