Prince Tega Wanogho's Biography

Born on November 22, 1997, Prince Tega Wanogho is a Nigerian who pursued his professional career in American football as an offensive tackle. As of now, Wanogho is a free agent who has left an indelible imprint in the world of football through his immense dedication, hard work, and natural ability for the game that has seen him rise through the ranks at a remarkable pace.

Prince Tega Wanogho’s roots are in Delta State, Nigeria, where he spent his early years before moving to Alabama in 2014. At this time, he aspired to transition his career towards basketball. His sporting journey took a twist when he got admission to Edgewood Academy in Elmore, Alabama, as it thrust him into a new sporting pathway – American Football. Here, he began to adapt to his new game as a defensive lineman, acting as a poignant turning point in his career.

Though Wanogho only played football for a single year at Edgewood, his tremendous potential shone through. His four-star recruit status and school commitments from renowned educational institutions like Auburn University marked his grand entry into the world of football. Such institutions as Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Texas displayed keen interest in Wanogho’s career, yet he chose Auburn University for his collegiate career.

Upon starting at Auburn University, injury kept him from fully expressing his talents in his first year. A leg injury, a remnant from his basketball days, necessitated a redshirt year for Wanogho in his inaugural year at Auburn. Despite being a converted offensive lineman, he saw action in ten games during the 2016 season.

2017 marked a significant leap in Wanogho’s career when he assumed the role of the starter at left tackle. His performance did not disappoint, and he held his position up to his senior season in 2019, with an impressive 32 games to his credit. Recognizing his growth and potential, the Philadelphia Eagles drafted him in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft, marking his ambitious foray into the NFL.

However, his journey with the Eagles was short-lived, with the team waiving him on September 5, 2020. Undeterred, he signed with the practice squad the following day until January 2, 2021, when he found himself in the active roster for the team’s Week 17 game against the Washington Football Team. Eventually, his contract with the team expired after the season on January 11.

In a swift turn of events, Wanogho signed with the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on January 16, 2021. Following his release on January 26, he signed a reserves/futures contract with the Chiefs. After another wave of signing and waiving, he was resurfaced to the squad on October 12.

The year 2022 saw Wanogho primarily concentrating on special teams. His determination and team play rewarded him with Super Bowl LVII, where the Chiefs triumphed over his former team, Philadelphia Eagles. Subsequent injuries led him to be placed on injured reserve on September 27, 2023. Despite his absence, the Chiefs managed to win Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers, giving Wanogho his second consecutive Super Bowl championship.
