Orlando Brown Jr. is a prominent American football player who plays as an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). Born on May 2, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, Brown is the son of famed NFL player Orlando “Zeus” Brown. Despite his father’s premature death in 2011, Brown Jr. overcame his grief and successfully pursued a career in the same field, carving out his unique identity and proving that talent indeed runs in the family. He currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Orlando’s early life was deeply impacted by the influence of his father. As a former NFL offensive tackle, Orlando Brown Sr. had a significant career with the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns. Brown Jr. was only 15 years old when his father passed away due to diabetic ketoacidosis. Nevertheless, the pivotal years he spent with his father instilled in him a deep-seated passion for football. He resolved to continue his father’s legacy, driving him to achieve a promising career in the sport.

At Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia, Brown Jr. started showing his proclivity towards football. As a senior, he was named to the ‘Gwinnett Daily Post’s All-County first team. During his college career at Oklahoma, Brown’s talent came to the fore. Over three seasons with the Sooners, he started 40 games and was named a two-time first-team All-Big 12 player. In 2017, he was a finalist for the Outland Trophy, an award given to the top interior lineman in college football. These achievements and their subsequent recognitions confirmed that Brown was indeed headed for great heights.

In 2018, Brown decided to forego his senior season and declared for the NFL Draft. Despite a below-average performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, the Baltimore Ravens, his father’s former team, selected Brown in the third round. Brown was thrilled at the prospect of playing for the Ravens, regarding it as a chance to continue his father’s legacy. His professional career started as a reserve, but a few games into the season, he was promoted as a starter off the right tackle where he demonstrated his worth.

In February 2021, Brown requested to be traded from the Ravens due to his desire to play left tackle permanently. His request was granted in April 2021 when he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs along with the 2021 second-round pick. This offered Brown a chance to demonstrate his prowess in the position he desired.
