Luke Musgrave

Born on September 2, 2000, Lucas Stone Musgrave is an acclaimed American football player renowned for his role as a professional tight end for the Green Bay Packers, a prominent team of the National Football League (NFL). A football prodigy, he honed his skills at Oregon State during his college years, which carved the path for his future successes in the NFL. Musgrave is football nobility; he comes from a family entrenched in the game, he is the nephew of respected football coach extraordinaire, Bill Musgrave.

As a true son of Bend, Oregon, Musgrave spent his formative years as an all-rounder, attending Bend Senior High School. Blessed with athleticism and iron will, he extended his talents beyond the football field to include lacrosse, track, and ski racing. As a senior at his high school, he announced himself as a football prospect amassing 563 receiving yards, and catching 31 passes that resulted in four touchdowns.

His relentless pursuit of excellence continued into his freshman year at Oregon State, where he participated in all 12 games. Frugal with his opportunities, he caught two passes for 18 yards and displayed his deftness on defense, making two indispensable tackles on special teams. His tenacity was further highlighted in the COVID-19 restricted 2020 season. Though seven games were played, Musgrave clocked in three starts and received 12 passes for a total of 142 yards. His sophomore season was filled with accolades as he secured 22 receptions leading to 304 yards and one touchdown. His athletic prowess shone when he blocked a punt, returning it 27 yards to score a touchdown, propelling Oregon State to a gripping 42-34 victory over Utah. He was aptly rewarded for his efforts, earning the title of the Pac-12 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

Musgrave’s outstanding performances during his college years was solid preparation for the 2023 NFL draft and, unsurprisingly, he was selected in the second round, 42nd overall, by the Green Bay Packers. He put pen to paper on July 19, signing his rookie contract.

The stakes were higher, and the lights were brighter when this athletic sensation made his NFL debut on September 10, 2023, against the Chicago Bears. He rose to the challenge by catching three passes which totaled 50 yards, leading the Green Bay Packers to a 38-20 victory. In Week 11, a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on November 19, a lacerated kidney couldn’t stop Musgrave. He continued to play even after the injury and was hospitalised that same day, before being placed on injured reserve on November 22. Once his condition was stable, he was discharged after two days of treatment, then activated on January 6, 2024.

During his first playoff start against the Dallas Cowboys, Musgrave continued to impress, recording three receptions, one of which was a 38-yard catch leading to a touchdown. He capped off his first playoff start with a total of 52 yards and a touchdown.
