Kendall Christopher Fuller, born on February 13, 1995, is an acclaimed American professional football player currently serving as a cornerback for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL). His journey has seen him playing for teams like the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs, contributing significantly to the latter’s victory at Super Bowl LIV through an instrumental game-sealing interception.

In his youth, Fuller, a Maryland-native, studied and began his athletic career at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney. There, he both played football and ran track competitively. On his high school football team, he played alongside future NFL players Blake Countess and Stefon Diggs. Given his exceptional talent and athleticism, he received multiple accolades his senior year, such as the U.S. Army All-American Defensive Player of the Year and the Maryland Gatorade Football Player of the Year. Along with football, Fuller also competed in track & field events including hurdles and jumps, setting some personal bests.

Fuller was recognized as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, which ranked him as the second-best cornerback and the ninth overall player in his class. The most prestigious colleges heavily pursued Fuller, including the likes of Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, and Florida. However, in July 2012, he decided to commit to Virginia Tech to play college football.

As a freshman in 2013, he demonstrated his potential, recording 58 tackles and six interceptions over 12 games he started out of 13, earning the title of Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year. Fuller continued playing as a starter his sophomore season, but a torn meniscus sidelined him for a while. Despite this setback, he declared for the 2016 NFL draft on December 15, 2015.

Given his stellar college career, many NFL experts and scouts predicted Fuller to be chosen in the first round of the draft, but his past injury perhaps caused hesitation among teams. Eventually, he was selected in the third round (84th overall) by the Washington Redskins.

Fuller’s first NFL season witnessed a steady rise in his career graph. Initially assigned as the fifth cornerback on the Redskins’ depth chart, injuries to other players provided him the opportunity to show his skills. Post his first professional regular season debut in Week 4, he earned his first start on October 2 and quickly surpassed Greg Toler to become the fourth cornerback.

However, the Redskins traded him in 2018, along with a third-round pick, to the Kansas City Chiefs for quarterback Alex Smith. As a result, Fuller found himself in a new role; he became the number one cornerback for the Chiefs.

During his time with the Chiefs, Fuller had a significant impact, featuring in 15 games and recording 82 combined tackles, two interceptions, and 12 pass deflections. His spectacular performances in Super Bowl LIV, particularly a crucial pass deflection and an interception in the fourth quarter, played a major role in the Chiefs’ victory.

Returning to Washington in 2020, now known as the Washington Commanders, Fuller continued to produce exceptional performances. This includes a memorable game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, where he made two interceptions. Distinct feats like sealing Washington’s win against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12 of the 2021 season by intercepting a crucial two-point conversion attempt further highlighted his skills.

In the 2022 season, Fuller raised the bar higher by scoring his first career touchdown intercepting a pass from Houston Texans’ quarterback Davis Mills. His spectacular interception of a throw by the Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Marcus Mariota in the end zone with less than a minute left, winning the game for Washington, was an exciting highlight of his career.

However, in March 2024, Fuller switched franchises and became part of the Miami Dolphins’ roster and continued to excel as a starting cornerback. The fact that he comes from a deeply athletic family might attribute to his success in the NFL. All of his three older brothers, Vincent, Corey, and Kyle Fuller, played college football at Virginia Tech, and later, followed in their brother’s footsteps to play in the NFL.
