Justyn Ross, a compelling figure in America’s professional football industry, was welcomed into the world on December 15, 1999. His career trajectory eventually landed him the position of a wide receiver for the esteemed Kansas City Chiefs, an esteemed franchise under the National Football League (NFL). Ross’ journey, however, weaves a more intricate tale that stretches beyond his current professional standing.

The genesis of Ross’ football career can be traced back to Central High School nestled in Phenix City, Alabama. The sport was clearly second nature to Ross during his senior year, where he remarkably registered a total of 37 receptions, covering a total of 730 yards while making 13 touchdowns.

Ross’ prowess on the gridiron didn’t go unnoticed, as he proudly held the mantle of a four-star recruit. His exceptional skills further catapulted him to the number 45 position among national recruits and a commendable ranking of 7 as a wide receiver. His career trajectory was about to take flight when multiple Division I colleges rolled out offers for him. Colleges such as Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, and Duke were eager to secure his athletic prowess, but it was Clemson University that eventually won over Ross.

During his stint at Clemson in 2018 as a freshman, Ross exuded unignorable potential. His numbers speak volumes with as many as 46 receptions, covering around 1,000 yards, with nine touchdowns. The zenith of Ross’ freshman year was the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship against Alabama, where he accomplished a personal record of 153 yards with six receptions and an impactful touchdown.

As a sophomore in 2019, Ross’ performance remained consistent. He finished with 865 receiving yards accumulated from 66 receptions and eight defining touchdowns. His career, however, hit an unexpected roadblock in 2020, when he was diagnosed with a congenital fusion condition affecting his neck and spine. This devastating development required surgery and led to his missing the entire season that year. Being granted a medical redshirt was a saving grace, which allowed him to continue honing his skills after recovery.

In his return as a redshirt junior in 2021, Ross surged back into action with 524 receiving yards resulting from 47 receptions and three touchdowns, all in ten games.

At Clemson, Ross made a notable mark, placing fifth in the university’s history for career receiving touchdowns with 20 to his name. On January 6, 2022, he decided to take the leap of faith by forgoing his senior year and opting to enter the NFL Draft.

However, during the 2022 NFL Draft, Ross was overlooked and not picked. This led him to sign on as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs on May 7, 2022. Shortly after, he sustained an offseason foot surgery that put him on injured reserve. This surgery caused him to sit out the entire season. Despite this setback, Ross later emerged as a Super Bowl champion when the Chiefs triumphed over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Ross endured a tumultuous phase in his career in October 2023 when he was arrested and subsequently placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. His activities were suspended from Week 8 until Week 14. Despite this rocky period, Ross managed to secure a second Super Bowl title when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. In August 2024, however, Ross faced another blow when he was waived by the Chiefs but was re-signed to their practice squad.

On October 23, 2023, Ross found himself entangled in legal matters resulting from charges of domestic battery and criminal property damage amounting to less than $1,000 in Shawnee, Kansas. His plea was not guilty on both charges. He was released the following day after posting a bond of $2,500.
