Jalen Allen Brooks was born on May 7th, 2000, and as an athlete from his early age, his journey has been a testament to dedication, agility, and endurance. Today, he is recognized as an esteemed American professional wide receiver in the Dallas Cowboys team, a celebrated entity of the National Football League (NFL). However, this encapsulates only a part of his journey, which commences from the suburban terrains of North Carolina and extends to the prominent playing fields across the United States.

Raised in Harrisburg, North Carolina, Brooks has always held the penchant for sports, evident in his early schooling years at the Northwestern High School. His potential first set foot on the map during his stint at Hickory Ridge High School, where he achieved high praise in his senior year with 44 receptions, nine touchdowns, and a laudable 771 yards.

Transcending from high school glory to collegiate triumph, Brooks committed to Division II Wingate, showcasing his impressive talents on the football field. As a true freshman during his 2018 tenure at Wingate, Brooks made his mark by playing 12 games and clocking 17 receptions that spanned 297 yards along with four touchdowns.

The ensuing year proved equally rewarding for Brooks as he started 11 out of his 12 appearances and registered 751 receiving yards from 35 catches along with six scores. His excellent 100-yard games against Virginia–Wise, Newberry, and UNC Pembroke solidified his reputation as a formidable force on the football field. Recognized as crucial in leading Wingate to a 10-2 record and a playoff berth, Brooks was duly honored as the first-team All-South Atlantic Conference for his performance.

The professional journey of Brooks, however, wasn’t without its challenges. His initial transfer to Tarleton State in 2020 followed by a swift move to South Carolina saw him facing ineligibility until the fifth game of the season. Despite this setback, Brooks played six contests, four as a starter, and contributed with 11 receptions spanning 100 yards.

The year 2021 saw Brooks enduring personal strains, forcing him to leave the team despite a promising start with 14 catches for 181 yards from the first six games. But, like a true sportsman, Brooks returned stronger for the 2022 season at South Carolina. Making a statement, he started all 12 games, registering 33 catches for 504 yards and a scoring touchdown. His performance also included four remarkable rushes measuring up to 51 yards, attaining another score. Nevertheless, he missed the Gator Bowl owing to an off-field issue and subsequently declared for the NFL Draft.

Brooks’ talent didn’t go unrecognized as he was one of the five players from South Carolina to score an invite to the 2023 NFL Combine. The culmination came when his name was called out in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, marking his selection for the renowned Dallas Cowboys with the 244th overall pick.

As a budding professional in the 2023 rookie year, Brooks made his presence felt by appearing in seven games and potentially demonstrating future promise with six receptions for 64 yards.
