Growing up in Tennessee, Odum enrolled at Millington Central High School, establishing his athletic prowess in football and track. Odum then took his athletic talents to Central Arkansas where he played college football for five remarkable seasons, including a redshirt year during his true freshman season. His NFL debut came on September 9, 2018, against the Cincinnati Bengals, performing on special teams. Showcasing resilience and prowess, Odum featured in the starting lineup in November 2018 following an injury to safety Malik Hooker, producing a sterling performance of 6 tackles. He rounded off his rookie season playing in every game, accumulating 36 total tackles, an interception, and two passes defended.

Odum replicated his consistency in the 2019 season, again playing all games and recording 37 tackles, also featuring a start against the Kansas City Chiefs.
