Eno Benjamin's Biography
Enotobong Benjamin, born on April 13, 1999, has been carving out a name for himself as an American professional football athlete, notably an agile and powerful running back. At present, he is recognized as a free agent. His journey traces back to his early life starting in Wylie, Texas, where he attended Wylie East. He established a solid reputation during his high school career, rushing for an impressive 7,546 yards and scoring a whopping 111 touchdowns.
Following his success in high school, Benjamin had originally committed to the University of Iowa, eager to continue playing football at the collegiate level. However, he felt more drawn to Arizona State University and chose to switch, hopeful and excited for the opportunities that lay ahead.
As a true freshman in 2017 at Arizona State, Benjamin demonstrated relentless dedication and effective performance in his 10 games. He accumulated a total of 23 carries, rushing for 142 yards and even achieving his first collegiate touchdown. Benjamin’s roles extended beyond just a running back – he also made substantial contributions to special teams as a punt returner that year, gathering 119 return yards.
By 2018, during his sophomore year, Benjamin continued to excel and shatter expectations. He broke the Arizona State University school record for rushing yards in a single game, amassing a staggering 312 yards. This achievement cemented his standing as a leading player on the team. Following a successful junior year in which he rushed for 1,083 yards and scored 10 touchdowns, Benjamin made the significant decision to forego his senior year and put his name forward for the illustrious 2020 NFL draft.
He was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals with the 222nd overall pick in the seventh round of the aforementioned draft. Though his rookie year saw him largely inactive, the 2021 season brought changes in Benjamin’s position. He was placed third on the Cardinals depth chart, behind Chase Edmonds and James Conner. Despite the competition, Benjamin was able to make his mark in Week 9, scoring his first NFL rushing touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers and finishing the season with 118 yards and a touchdown over nine games.
The 2022 season introduced more challenges and opportunities for Benjamin. Following an injury to Matt Prater, he assumed kickoff duties for the Cardinals during a Week 4 game against the Carolina Panthers. However, as the season unfolded, Benjamin was released by the Cardinals after 11 weeks.
Shortly after, on November 15, 2022, he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. Yet, just under a month later, Benjamin was released once more. Undeterred, the New Orleans Saints spotted Benjamin’s potential and claimed him off waivers the very next day, on December 14, 2022.
Unfortunately, the journey took a somber turn for Benjamin in 2023 when it was disclosed that he had sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon during practice. This severe injury ruled him out for the entirety of the 2023 season. Despite this setback, his journey in football has been nothing short of remarkable, and the world awaits his return in anticipation for what Benjamin will bring to the field next.
