Drew White's Biography

Born on October 16, 1991, DeAndrew White had an impressive career as an American football wide receiver. He propelled into football limelight after a notable performance in college football with Alabama and later molded an illustrious professional career.

Hailing from North Shore High School, where he gained considerable recognition as a U.S. Army All-American and SuperPrep All-American. He distinguished himself further and ranked as the 13th wide receiver prospect according to Scout.com. In 2010, he was chosen to play in the critically acclaimed U.S. Army All-American Game. His expertise in the sport led him to be selected as a member of the PrepStar Dream Team.

Backed with a strong track record as a four-star recruit, DeAndrew made his commitment to Alabama. He had a promising freshman season, delivering 14 receptions for 151 yards and miraculously landed two touchdowns. Upon Marquis Maze’s departure, White emerged as the starting position. Unfortunately, during a game against Ole Miss, White got a knee injury leading to him missing the remaining of the season. Despite these unforeseen circumstances, he concluded the 2012 season with 8 receptions for 105 yards.

2013 turned to be a breakout year for White where he produced his best season. He recorded his first 100-yard performance against Oklahoma, concluding the game with 3 receptions for 139 yards and one touchdown. His exceptional performances led him to finish the 2013 season with 32 receptions for 534 yards and four touchdowns.

However, his progression was slightly stifled following a serious injury during the 2014 season opener against West Virginia. After missing two weeks, he made his return in a game against Florida. His best game was against Missouri, wherein he landed 4 receptions for 101 yards and got one touchdown. Despite the early setback, he finished up the season with 40 receptions for 504 yards and four touchdowns.

Shortly after the 2015 NFL draft, On May 2, 2015, White was offered an opportunity to sign up with the San Francisco 49ers. During his rookie year, he played in four games primarily on special teams, returning six kickoffs for 142 yards and performed one punt for four yards alongside two receptions for 18 yards on offense. However, White was released by the 49ers on September 3, 2016.

Swiftly after his release, on September 14, 2016, White was signed to the Patriots’ practice squad. Momentously, this led to him attaining his first Super Bowl championship. The Patriots emerged victorious against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

Despite his impressive achievement, he was released on June 22, 2017, after re-signing with the Patriots on May 21. White found his next home with the Houston Texans when he signed with the team on August 1, 2017. Unfortunately, a serious groin injury on August 14, 2017, led him to be waived and landed on the injured reserve list.

Throughout the next few years, White had fleeting stints with other football teams such as the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers. His journey with the latter turned out to be quite see-sawing as he was released and re-signed a couple of times before finally letting go on August 31, 2019.

White was given a couple of trials by the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens in August 2020. The Ravens showed promising intent by signing him on August 25, 2020. However, an unfortunate injury led him to injured reserve just six days later. Whites tenure with Ravens and in professional football ultimately concluded after the 2020 season.

In spite of the trials and tribulations, DeAndrew White’s career in American football remains an exemplar of resilience and determination.
