De'Jon Harris's Biography

De’Jon Raiheem “Scoota” Harris, born on November 1, 1997, serves as a key player in the American professional football industry where he’s a renowned linebacker. His professional journey traces back to his college days at the University of Arkansas where he proudly represented the Razorbacks.

During his standout football career at Arkansas that spanned 2016 to 2019, he markedly demonstrated his increasing skills and prowess in the field. Out of the 45 games in which he participated, Harris recorded a remarkable 371 tackles which included 26 tackles for loss. Furthermore, he made 7.5 sacks, 9 pass deflections, and 4 forced fumbles. His consistent efforts also led to 3 fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown.

The sharp talent and potential of Harris, nicknamed ‘Scoota’ by his mother since birth, did not go unnoticed. On April 26, 2020, the New England Patriots signed him as an undrafted free agent. However, his stint with the team was short-lived as he was waived by the Patriots on September 5, 2020.

Barely a week after his release from the Patriots, Harris was signed to the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad on September 9, 2020. His time with the Packers saw him transitioning between the active roster and the practice squad for various matches, specifically the team’s weeks 4 and 12 games against the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears respectively. Eventually, on January 25, 2021, Harris went on to sign a reserve/futures contract with the Packers. Sadly, Harris’ journey with the Packers came to a halt when he was released as part of their final roster cut on August 31, 2021.

Scoota continued his professional journey and was signed with the Washington Football Team’s practice squad on October 19, 2021. His performance secured his elevation to the active roster as a COVID-19 replacement player against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15. Harris was permanently signed to the active roster on January 3, 2022.

Despite being released by the now-renamed Commanders on August 31, 2022, and shortly signing back to the practice squad two days later, Harris found his way back to the active roster on November 3. After a brief waiver on December 22, he re-signed to the practice squad four days later and was promoted back to the active roster once again on December 30. This roster carousel saw Harris finally placed on injured reserve on January 4, 2023.

Further twists in Harris’ career path included his release by the Commanders on August 29, 2023, but he re-signed to the practice squad shortly after. He was then promoted to the active roster on October 10. Unfortunately, he faced an injury that led to him being placed on the injured reserve following a quad injury on November 22. He made a strong comeback when he was reactivated only a month later, on December 28.
