David Blough Bio
David Blough is an American football coach and former quarterback who serves as the Washington Commanders’ offensive coordinator as of September 21, 2026. Washington promoted him to the position in January 2026 after he worked as the club’s assistant quarterbacks coach during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In that role, he contributed to the development of the Commanders’ quarterback room and helped prepare multiple quarterbacks who started games in 2025.
Blough played quarterback at Purdue from 2014 through 2018 and became a prominent starter after initially serving as a reserve. The Purdue program lists him at 6 feet 1 inch and identifies his birthplace as Carrollton, Texas, with a birth date of July 31, 1995. He entered the NFL as an undrafted player and spent time with the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals before moving into coaching.
As a player, Blough was known for operating a pass-oriented offense, making downfield throws and using mobility to extend plays. His transition from NFL quarterback to coaching reflects a continued emphasis on quarterback preparation, offensive structure and adapting instruction to the players in the room.
