Cole Christiansen's Biography

Cole Christiansen, a prominant American professional football player born on July 30, 1997, is renowned for his current role as a linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, a reputable organization within the National Football League (NFL). His football career began during his college years at the Army.

Born and bred in the pastoral setting of a horse farm in Suffolk, Virginia, Christiansen’s athletic talents were apparent even before embarking on his professional journey. Attending Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, he actively participated in football and lacrosse, which honed his skills significantly. His exceptional talent in football resulted in him being crowned Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year and the Tidewater Conference Player of the Year during both his junior and senior years.

His time at Army was marked with notable achievements. Playing four seasons for the Army Black Knights, Christiansen succeeded in becoming a starter during his sophomore year and concluded the season second on the team with an impressive 84 tackles. Prior to his junior year, he was named a team captain. His junior year too, he finished second with 77 tackles while simultaneously leading the team with 12 tackles for loss. As his senior year approached, he championed the Black Knights with 112 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and forced two fumbles. Upon the completion of his collegiate career, Christiansen had amassed an impressive 275 tackles.

Christiansen ventured into professional football by signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on April 25, 2020. The transition was facilitated by a waiver that allowed him to serve as a reserve, delaying his active duty commitment until his playing career’s termination. However, he was briefly waived by the Chargers during the roster cuts on September 5, 2020, only to be reinstated to the team’s practice squad the following day. His potential was realized as he was promoted to the active roster on numerous occasions, most notably on January 1, 2021.

A shift in his career trajectory took place on August 31, 2021, when Christiansen was waived by the Chargers, only to re-sign with the practice squad subsequently. On January 11, 2022, he entered into a reserve/future contract with the Chargers. However, his tenure with the Chargers lasted until August 30, 2022, when he was waived once more.

The Kansas City Chiefs identified his talent and inducted him into their practice squad on September 1, 2022. It was a monumental milestone as Christiansen was promoted to the active roster on October 15 and made his first tackle with the team two days later against the Buffalo Bills. This ascendancy led to Christiansen becoming a Super Bowl Champion with the Chiefs’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. He extended his contract with the Chief on February 15, 2023, under a reserve/future contract. He was briefly waived but re-signed, and then reinstated in the active roster on January 17, 2024, leading him to his second Super Bowl victory with the Chiefs, defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

On March 11, 2024, Christiansen re-signed with the Chiefs, despite the organization removing his exclusive rights tender on May 4, 2024, rendering him a free agent. After a brief departure on August 27, 2024, Christiansen was readmitted to the practice squad, only to return to the active roster once more on September 18.
