Charlie Heck's Biography

Charlie Heck, born on November 20, 1996, is a talented American professional footballer, specializing as an offensive tackle. He’s best known for his time with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). However, his journey to the professional stage started much earlier than his stint with the Cardinals, and his journey is marked by perseverance, a strong work ethic, and a deep love for the game.

Heck’s passion for football started to be evident during his high school years at Rockhurst High School. It was there that his talent and skills began to garner attention, leading up to his commitment to join and play for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels as a tight end on November 30, 2014. The decision was not an easy one, as it resulted in his turning down offers from several notable teams, including Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, and others.

At North Carolina, Heck redshirted his freshman season and started a few games as a redshirt freshman. It wasn’t until his sophomore season that he earned his position as a full-time starter, a testament to his dedication and consistent improvement in refining his skills on the field.

Heck started playing as the right tackle during his junior season, and transitioned to the challenging role of a left tackle in his senior year. Following a solid senior season, Charlie Heck had the opportunity to participate in the highly competitive and prestigious Senior Bowl and the East-West Shrine Bowl in 2020.

As a testament to his playing ability, Heck was selected by the Houston Texans in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft. He proved invaluable, offering consistent performances and hard grit on the field. In 2023, the start of the season saw Heck placed on the reserve/PUP list. However, his recovery was swift, and Heck was back on the field, activated on November 28.

Heck re-signed with the Texans on March 19, 2024, and despite his hard work and effort, Heck was unfortunately released later that year, on August 27. Despite the setback, it wasn’t too long before his professional football career took a positive turn.

On September 11, 2024, Heck became part of the Arizona Cardinals, signing to their practice squad. His journey in the professional league thus continued. It was his resilience and commitment to the sport, learned from a young age and carried throughout his career, that led Heck to where he is now.

Charlie Heck’s love for football does not exist in a vacuum. His father, Andy Heck, is a former college football All-American and serves as the offensive line coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. His brother, Jon Heck, also has a history in the sport, serving as an offensive tackle for the University of North Carolina, and currently holding a position as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Troy Trojans football team.

Therefore, Charlie Heck’s love for football is ingrained in his lineage, embedded in his family, and nurtured throughout years of playing and growing as an athlete. His journey is a shining example of the role determination, passion, and family support can play in achieving a high level of success within the realm of professional sports.
