Caleb Sequan Williams, an American professional quarterback for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL), was born on November 18, 2001, in Washington, D.C. This articulate yet athletic individual made his way from a simple city boy playing school football to an internationally recognized triumphant sports figure.

Caleb’s football journey commenced during his high school years at Gonzaga College, where he had an illustrious career. From a novice, he polished his skills to a level that sent waves across the football community. As a sophomore in 2018, his extraordinary talent came to the surface when he led Gonzaga to a WCAC Championship, proving themselves as the best team in the District. Caleb’s contributions didn’t go unnoticed as he bagged the titles of Washington Post All-Metropolitan 1st team and Washington, D.C. Gatorade Football Player of the Year after showcasing a remarkable 2,624 passing yards with 26 touchdowns and 394 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns.

In 2019, junior year, he replicated his sophomore’s success with 1,770 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, topping that up with 838 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. His performances earned him the title of Washington Post All-Metropolitan 1st team once again. His senior season, however, was prematurely cut short when the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the schedule.

Despite the unfortunate cancellation, Caleb’s star shone brighter than ever. His exceptional skills and accomplishments piqued the interest of various scouts leading to his commitment to play college football with the University of Oklahoma. His debut season in 2021 initially saw him as a backup to Spencer Rattler, but his undeniable talent quickly catapulted him to the starting quarterback position.

In 2022, a monumental shift in his career materialized when he decided to transfer to the University of Southern California to play for the Trojans. The move was a reunion for him with former Sooners coach Lincoln Riley. His impact was immediate, leading the team to a stunning 66-14 victory in his debut game against Rice. His stellar performances throughout the season ensured the spotlight stayed on him, resulting in him being crowned the AP College Football Player of the Year and the prestigious 2022 Heisman Trophy winner.

Following this, he further proved his prowess by starting as the Trojans quarterback in 2023, recording 3,333 yards with 31 passing and 11 rushing touchdowns. His performances led to his early declaration for the 2024 NFL Draft, having had an awe-inspiring college career with nearly 10,000 yards and 120 total touchdowns under his belt. The University of Southern California sought to honour his incredible achievements by retiring his number 13 jersey; a tradition done for their Heisman Trophy winners.

The subsequent milestone in Caleb’s illustrious career was his entry into the NFL. Chosen first overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Bears made a notable trade with the Carolina Panthers to seize the first pick rights.
