Angelo Blackson's Biography

Angelo Sierre Blackson, simply known as Angelo Blackson, was born on November 14, 1992, and has had a successful career in professional football as a defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals, as part of the National Football League (NFL). Growing up, Blackson developed a passion for football at an early age and later played college football at Auburn University. He was then drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round of the NFL draft in 2015.

During his tenure from 2011-2014 at Auburn University, Blackson showcased his talent for the game, paving his path to a professional career in football. At the completion of his college career, the Tennessee Titans selected him in the 100th overall pick during the fourth round of 2015 NFL draft. On May 14, 2015, he was signed on a $2.85 million four-year contract with a signing bonus of $571,615 by the Titans.

However, Blackson’s time with the Titans wasn’t permanent as he was waived by the team on September 2, 2017, after contributing considerably with 24 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Soon after, he was signed with the practice squad of the New England Patriots on September 4, 2017.

Blackson’s grind didn’t stop there as he was shortly noticed by the Houston Texans who signed him from the Patriots’ practice squad on November 1, 2017. His effort in progressing his tier was approved with a three-year, $12 million contract extension with the Texans on March 11, 2019. One of his notable achievements was in Week 15 of the 2019 season where he blocked a field goal in a 24-21 win over the Titans, earning him the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Blackson’s journey with the Texans ended when he was released by the team on September 5, 2020. Just three days later, the Arizona Cardinals swiftly signed him on September 8, 2020. Only a year later, on March 20, 2021, Blackson agreed to a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears.

However, his stint with the Bears was short-lived as he was signed by the Baltimore Ravens on May 24, 2023. His tenure was brief with the Ravens and he was released on August 29, 2023. Blackson’s resilience was demonstrated when he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 31, 2023.

Unexpected twists and turns continued to define Angelo Blackson’s football career. On April 15, 2024, he signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos but was released shortly after on August 26. Not too long later, on September 10, 2024, Blackson was signed up by the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, returning to an earlier team.
