Adrian Amos's Biography

Adrian Gerald Amos Jr. was born on April 29, 1993. Over the years, he has carved out a successful career as a professional football safety. Born in Baltimore and raised in Maryland, he is known for his tenacity, agility and talent both on and off the field. He currently plays in the National Football League as a free agent.

Early Life and Education:

Adrian attended Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland, where he showcased his sporting prowess from an early age. His exceptional skill earned him a three-star rating from Rivals.com. Initially, he had committed to attending the University of Connecticut for his collegiate football journey.

College Career:

However, destiny had other plans, and Adrian’s talent would be nurtured at Penn State. Between 2011 and 2014, he had an illustrious career with the Penn State Nittany Lions where he played every single game during his freshman year as a cornerback and on special teams.

His college athletics and performance in special teams promoted him to starting all games in the subsequent three seasons. He transitioned from a cornerback to a safety position and showcased tremendous growth in his performance. Splitting his time effectively between the positions, he recorded 50 tackles, one interception, and 2.5 sacks during his junior year.

Professional Career:

His impressive performance got him invited to the 2015 Senior Bowl and consequently projected as a fourth or fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft. He participated in the NFL Combine and demonstrated impressive physical prowess that further riveted the attention of scouts towards him. In the 2015 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears selected Amos in the fifth round. He was signed to a four-year contract for 2.51 million dollars, with a signing bonus of $232,280.

During his rookie season, Adrian started all 16 games and secured a spot on the Pro Football Writers All-Rookie Team. The subsequent season saw him awarded the Brian Piccolo Award, a demonstration of the high regard held for him by his teammates.

The 2017 season saw a transition for Adrian. He was initially named a backup but soon became the starting strong safety after an injury to the first-string safety. It was during this season he achieved his first interception returned for a touchdown, during a victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

In 2019 Adrian signed a four-year, 37 million dollar contract with the Green Bay Packers. He left the Packers, later on, signing with the New York Jets in June 2023 for a one-year contract worth 4 million dollars. Following a stint with the Jets, Amos was released and subsequently signed by the Houston Texans. In 2024, he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars though he was released shortly afterward.

Amos has also played for other teams such as the Houston Texans and the New York Jets. Despite the turns and sways his career has taken, he has always demonstrated resilience and dedication, bringing his A-game to whichever team he is part of.
