Russell Westbrook is an American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on November 12, 1988 in Long Beach, California and grew up in Hawthorne. Westbrook attended Leuzinger High School where he played point guard for his high school team.

Westbrook entered college at UCLA as one of the top incoming freshmen. As a freshman at UCLA, Westbrook was part of a Bruins squad that won the 2007-08 Pac-10 championship with a 26-8 record. After two successful years at UCLA, he declared himself eligible for the 2008 NBA Draft where he was selected fourth overall by Seattle SuperSonics which later became Oklahoma City Thunder after their relocation to Oklahoma City.

In his rookie season, Westbrook averaged 15.3 points per game and 5 assists per game while also winning 2009 NBA All Rookie First Team honors and also being named to his first All Star Game in 2011 after averaging 21 points 7 rebounds and 8 assists per game during that season. From 2012 to 2016 Russell made it to five consecutive all star games and led OKC deep into playoffs three times including a Western Conference Finals appearance against eventual champion Golden State Warriors in 2013-14 season when he averaged 28 points 9 rebounds 8 assist along with 2 steals over 17 playoff games .

Since then Russell has continued to be one of best players in league earning him another five All Star selections from 2017 till 2021 during which time he also won back to back scoring titles 2017–18 & 2018–19 becoming only second player since Michael Jordan 1990–91 & 1991–92 seasons respectively ,to win multiple consecutive scoring titles . During 2019 – 20season Russell once again proved why’s is considered one greatest players ever leading Houston Rockets deep into playoffs before ultimately falling short against eventual runner ups Los Angeles Lakers .

At start 2021 – 22season Russell signed four year contract worth $164Million Dollars with Washington Wizards making him highest paid player franchise history ,where now aims lead them end long play off drought . Overall throughout 13 seasons that have spanned so far ,Russell has put together impressive resume featuring eleven all star appearances nine selection all defensive teams seven selection all NBA teams MVP award alongside various records held by him including most triple doubles single season 144 regular season triple doubles overall .
