P.J. Tucker

P.J. Tucker is an American professional basketball player who has been in the NBA for over a decade and is considered one of the most versatile players in the league. He currently plays power forward and small forward positions for the Houston Rockets.

Tucker was born Patrick James Tucker on May 5, 1985, in Raleigh, North Carolina to parents Patricia and Gary Tucker. He attended high school at The Episcopal School of Dallas before enrolling at University of Texas at Austin to play college basketball under then head coach Rick Barnes from 2003-2006. During his time there he started all 34 games as a senior and helped lead his team to several tournament appearances including two trips to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen round (2005 & 2006). After going undrafted during the 2006 NBA Draft, he began his professional career playing overseas with teams such as Antwerp Diamond Giants (Belgium), ALBA Berlin (Germany), Ukraine Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine), Hapoel Holon (Israel) among others between 2007-2012 before returning stateside when he signed with Phoenix Suns in 2012 where he played for four seasons until 2016 when he joined Toronto Raptors for one season followed by Houston Rockets where’s been since 2017 after receiving a multiyear contract from them at that time.
