Despite being lightly recruited, Abmas chose to play college basketball for Oral Roberts University over several offers. There, he quickly made his mark as a regular starter, earning the honor of Summit League All-Newcomer Team with impressive averages in matches. His performances in games against Oklahoma State and South Dakota State are particularly notable for scoring 36 and 42 points respectively. His continual stellar performances saw him named Lou Henson National Mid-Major Player of the Week.
