Keyonte George

Keyonte Darnell George, widely known in the sports industry and amongst fans is an accomplished professional basketball player. Born on November 8, 2003, George is currently a key player for the Utah Jazz, a renowned team within the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before making his mark in the professional world, George honed his skills and made a lasting impression through his significant college basketball career playing for the Baylor Bears. Known for his athleticism and strategic play, he was widely recognized as a consensus five-star recruit and named one of the top-rated players within his 2022 class.

Keyonte George embarked on his basketball journey during his high school years at Lewisville High School in Lewisville, Texas. Even as a freshman, he displayed impressive skills, averaging 21 points, four rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. His outstanding performance secured him the prestigious title of District 6-6A Offensive Player of the Year.

As a sophomore, George continued to elevate his game, averaging 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, an achievement which resulted in his being named the District 6-6A MVP. His high school journey took a turn when he transferred to the iSchool of Lewisville during his junior year, where he maintained an impressive average of 24.8 points per game in the season.

George’s senior year saw him relocating to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida where his performance only strengthened further. With an average of 17.8 points per game and a shooting percentage of 41% from the three-point range, he was the highest-ranked recruit in the Academy’s history.

This led to George’s next academic and sports step, committing to Baylor University for the 2023 college basketball season, rank marking him as a top-notch player within the 2022 class. His decision to play for Baylor was made in August 2021, over competitive offers from other eminent institutions, such as Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Kentucky.

At Baylor, George’s performance continued to be exceptional. In a match against West Virginia on January 11, 2023, he scored an impressive 32 points, paving the way for an 83-78 victory. His debut season at Baylor was decorated with numerous prestigious titles, including Big 12 Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Big 12. For his freshman year, George scored an astounding 506 points, the second-highest in the school’s history. Alongside this remarkable achievement, he also set the record for most 20-point games in Baylor’s history with an impressive 20 such games.

Following his impactful college career, George entered the realm of professional basketball when the Utah Jazz selected him as their sixteenth overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft. His regular season debut occurred on October 25, 2023, against the Sacramento Kings. George put up a strong performance, scoring eight points, two rebounds, and two assists off the bench despite the team’s 130-114 loss.

On December 2nd and 12th, George made headlines by achieving career-highs in scoring against the Portland Trail Blazers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, with 21 and 30 points respectively. Additionally, he displayed his all-rounded skills by contributing six rebounds and six assists to the game against Portland.

George also found success in the world of 3×3 basketball. Representing the United States at the 2021 FIBA 3×3 Under-18 World Cup held in Hungary, George was named MVP. He exhibited an impressive tournament-high average of 8.2 points per game, becoming a significant factor in leading his team to victory and a gold medal.
