This young American professional basketball player turned heads when he was drafted by the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He proved his mettle in the court by displaying an exquisite brand of basketball, where each game served as a testimony to his growing skills and sportsmanship. Prior to entering the NBA, Collier built an impressive record during his time as a college basketball player for the USC Trojans and impressed many with his consistency and star performances.

Collier’s journey to becoming a basketball sensation began in his hometown of Marietta, Georgia. His childhood revolved around the Wheeler High School court, where his uncle, Larry Thompson, trained him in the intricacies of the game. His junior year in high school saw him averaging a remarkable 18 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals per game.

His dedication and hard work accounted for his selection in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). Despite suffering a meniscus injury while training with the United States under-18 basketball team in May 2022 and consequently missing the rest of the EYBL circuit, Collier did not let that setback derail his career. He bounced back quickly and participated in the Curry Camp, bagging the title of camp MVP in the process.

His stellar high school career continued into his senior year where he exhibited top-form. He marked remarkable stats including an average of 19.6 points, 6.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. His shooting rates were equally remarkable; 52 percent from inside the arc, 38 percent from 3-point range, and a free throw rate of 77 percent.

Owing to his consistent performance, Collier was nominated to play in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game in his senior year. Following this, he was selected to represent Team USA in the Nike Hoops Summit. The year 2023 marked significant achievements as Collier was awarded the Naismith Prep Player of the Year and the title of Mr. Georgia Basketball.

At the end of his high school career, Collier emerged as a five-star recruit, ranking among the top tier of the 2023 class as per leading recruitment services. ESPN and Rivals ranked him as the number one prospect for the 2023 class. His enrolment to the university in June 2023 marked the beginning of his college basketball journey.

His journey at USC Trojans was nothing short of unprecedented. His exceptional performance throughout the season, which began with him scoring 18 points alongside three rebounds and six assists in the season opener against Kansas State, marked his prominence in the world of college basketball.

Taking a leap of faith, Collier declared for the 2024 NBA Draft on April 10, 2024, leaving behind his remaining college eligibility. The Utah Jazz team made the wise choice of selecting this young talent with the 29th overall pick on June 26, 2024.
