Alex Sarr Bio
Alex Sarr is a French professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards. Born on April 26, 2005, in Bordeaux, France, Sarr developed through Real Madrid’s youth system before moving to the United States to play for Overtime Elite. He later joined the Perth Wildcats through the Australian NBL’s Next Stars program, gaining experience before entering the NBA draft.
The Wizards selected Sarr with the second overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He plays primarily at center and is listed at 7 feet tall. Washington’s current roster and 2026 team materials identify him as part of the organization’s frontcourt, and the Wizards exercised his third-year rookie-scale team option on October 30, 2025.
Sarr’s game is built around mobility, length and defense. He can protect the rim, move effectively for a player his size and defend in space, giving him versatility across frontcourt matchups. His development path has also included international competition with France and professional experience in both Australia and the United States. As of September 21, 2026, he remains listed with Washington.
