Jacob Berkshire Meyers, an American-professional baseball outfielder, was born on June 18, 1996 to Paul and Laurie Meyers in Omaha, Nebraska. His father, Paul Meyers, was a former professional baseball player himself, having been drafted by the San Francisco Giants back in 1986. Jacob has one sibling, a sister named Lauren. His high school years were spent at Westside High School, where his outstanding performances led his team to Class A state championships in his junior and senior years in baseball. As captain of the teams, his unmistakable talent and leadership shone brightly as he led his schools’ basketball team into the state championship.

Jacob’s academic pursuits led him to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he majored in Business Administration. Mirroring his high school years, Jacob played college baseball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. His performances in his sophomore year secures him the title of third team All-Big Ten Conference, leading his team with a .326 batting average alongside a 1.42 ERA. His college career peaked at an impressive .297 with one home run, seven doubles, 16 RBIs, 52 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases while maintaining a 3.42 ERA in 84+1⁄3 innings pitched.

The onset of his professional baseball career was marked by him being chosen by the Houston Astros in the 13th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. His skills as an outfielder won him a spot in the active roster on July 31, 2021.
