MMA fans have been eagerly awaiting this summer fight ever since it was announced that Brian Ortega and Giga Chikadze are in talks to face off. Both fighters come from impressive backgrounds, with Ortega currently ranked 7th in the featherweight division while Chikadze is sitting at 9th.
Ortega has had a long and successful career as an MMA fighter, having competed since 2010 and quickly rising through the ranks of the featherweight division. He has held notable victories over Frankie Edgar, Cub Swanson and Diego Brandao, earning him a reputation as one of the most formidable fighters in his weight class.
Chikadze on the other hand is relatively new to MMA compared to Ortega, but no less accomplished. He made his professional debut in 2016 but already boasts an impressive nine-fight winning streak which includes victories over Brandon Davis, Jamall Emmers and Daniel Teymur. His record speaks for itself when it comes to grappling prowess – seven submission wins out of nine fights – while he also possesses strong striking abilities which could give him an edge against Ortega if they enter into a standup battle.
The stakes are high for both men; a win here could propel either fighter into title contention within their respective divisions. With both men possessing such different strengths on their feet or on the ground – combined with plenty of experience between them – this fight will surely be an explosive matchup for any fan tuning in this summertime extravaganza!
Outside of what’s happening inside the cage though, there’s been some drama surrounding how negotiations were handled after UFC president Dana White publicly called out Chikadze’s team during earlier discussions between themselves and Ortega’s camp over money issues related to purses & bonuses due prior being officially signed by both parties involved – something which White obviously didn’t take too kindly too! However despite these initial setbacks involving monetary negotiations neither fighter appears willing to back down or accept anything less than top-dollar again showing just how competitive & determined they truly are when it comes down getting ready for their upcoming clash!
Though we don’t know yet who will prevail once they enter into combat later this summer one thing is certain: whichever man emerges victorious will have earned respect from all corners of mixed martial arts community proving that only those who dare can succeed at highest levels!
Comments:
What are you even talking about
That fight is never going to happen
You’re clearly delusional
It should be Ortega vs. Aldo, not Chikadze
No way would they let that fight happen on the same card as Usman/Masvidal.
I’m sure it will happen sooner than later, so just wait and see.
Nobody knows what’s going to happen in the UFC until it’s actually announced.
You’re totally wrong – I have a good feeling about this one happening soon.
Ortega hasn’t fought in over two years – why give him such an easy matchup?
Because Chikadze is the more realistic option right now!
Yeah, but he hasn’t been tested enough for such a high-profile matchup yet
Yes he has! He deserves his shot at glory!
