Nia Coffey

Nia Coffey is a 6-foot-1 WNBA forward born June 11, 1995. The Minneapolis native attended Hopkins High School before playing at Northwestern, where she became one of the most decorated players in program history. Coffey earned First Team All-Big Ten recognition in each of her four college seasons and received Associated Press honorable mention All-America honors. She also helped the United States win gold at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship.

The San Antonio Stars selected Coffey with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2017 WNBA Draft. Her professional career has included dated affiliations with San Antonio, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Phoenix and Los Angeles. She returned to Atlanta for the 2022 season and remained with the Dream through 2025, providing experience and frontcourt versatility.

Minnesota signed Coffey as a free agent on February 12, 2026. As of September 13, 2026, she is listed as a forward on the Lynx roster, bringing her career back to her home state. Coffey’s game is built around versatility: she can play across the frontcourt, defend multiple types of opponents, rebound and stretch the floor as a perimeter shooting option.
