BIOGRAPHY
Rolando Bedoya is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born on November 18, 1989 in Brooklyn, New York City, he graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy and attended Nassau Community College. He began his professional career in 2013 and quickly became one of the most promising fighters in the lightweight division. In 2016 he was signed by the UFC and has since won four out of six fights while competing in both featherweight and lightweight divisions.
Before becoming a professional MMA fighter, Bedoya had a successful amateur career with multiple titles to his name including two Cage Fury Fighting Championships Amateur Featherweight Titles as well as winning three fights at Bellator 85. He also held several regional titles such as WKA Eastern US Regional 145-pound Title and WKA East Coast Amateur Featherweight Title.
Bedoya made his professional debut against Rob Fioretti at Bellator 77 where he won via submission due to rear naked choke after just two minutes into round one. This victory marked the beginning of a long streak for “The Cuban Fighter” which saw him win five out of six fights prior to being signed by UFC – some notable wins include ones over Adam Maciejewski at KSW 24: Clash Of The Giants, Joe Pingitore at CFFC 54: Ricci vs. Girtz 2 and Anthony Morrison at CFFC 61: Raddatz vs Palomino II respectively.
After signing with UFC on February 13th 2016; Rolando faced off against fellow newcomer Phillipe Nover who was coming off an impressive 10 fight win streak when they met inside TUF 23 Finale octagon on July 8th 2016; unfortunately for Bedoya it wasn’t meant to be that day because Nover defeated him via unanimous decision after three rounds of action-packed back and forth striking exchange between them both but despite losing this bout didn’t affect any momentum that ‘The Cuban Fighter’ had been building up until then .
Since joining UFC Rolando has gone 3-3 record overall so far taking victories over Felipe Silva later that year then followed it up with another win against Kyle Nelson last year before suffering setbacks against Tiago Trator & Alex Caceres but most recently rebounded from those losses when he put together impressive performance during 2020s October 31st card beating Luke Sanders via doctor stoppage due to cut occurring near cornerman’s eye during third round thus giving him much needed rebound victory after setbacks previously mentioned above .
Going forward Rolando looks like he’ll remain active member within promotion for foreseeable future especially now gaining more popularity amongst fans thanks recent success , however only time will tell what’s next store this exciting prospect !
