Sara McMann is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s women’s bantamweight division. She is a former Olympic wrestler, having won a silver medal in freestyle wrestling at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

McMann made her professional mixed martial arts debut in 2011 and quickly earned recognition for her excellent grappling skills and ability to control fights on the ground. In 2013, she was signed by UFC, becoming only their second female fighter ever signed to the organization. Since then, she has gone on to become one of the most recognizable female fighters in MMA today.

In 2014, Sara McMann established herself as one of the top contenders in women’s bantamweight when she defeated Shayna Baszler via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs Philippou. The win earned her a title shot against Ronda Rousey at UFC 170 and although she lost that fight via armbar submission, it was proof that McMann could hang with some of MMA’s best fighters regardless of gender.

After that loss and two more defeats which followed (to Miesha Tate & Amanda Nunes), Sara McMann decided to take some time off from competing professionally so that she could focus on rebuilding her career before returning to action later this year with a victory over Gina Mazany at UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs Hooker by way of TKO (doctor stoppage). She will now attempt to earn another crack at top level competition having compiled an impressive 11-5 record since making her pro MMA debut back in 2011 – all but two of those wins have come by way of submission or technical knockout!

Outside of competing inside the octagon Sara works tirelessly away from it too; devoting much of her spare time towards helping young wrestlers reach their potential both athletically and academically through Camp Olympia – an organization set up by herself & others dedicated solely towards nurturing upcoming athletes across various sports disciplines including Jiu-Jitsu & Judo amongst others!

At 35 years old Sarra McMann is showing no signs slowing down anytime soon; recently signing multi-fight contracts with both Strikeforce & PFL along with continuing appearances for independent promotions such as Submission Underground where fans can see firsthand just how far this talented athlete has come since being taken under Dana White’s wing back in 2013!
