BIOGRAPHY

Misha Cirkunov is a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s light heavyweight division. Born and raised in Riga, Latvia, Cirkunov developed an interest in martial arts at a young age and started training judo when he was seven years old. After earning his black belt at 15, he went on to compete internationally and won several major tournaments throughout Europe.

In 2008, Cirkunov moved to Toronto, Canada and began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu under John Kavanagh while also working as a personal trainer. He made his amateur debut in 2009 with a submission victory before transitioning to MMA two years later. His professional career began quickly with five straight stoppage wins over the course of just six months; four by submission and one by TKO. This streak earned him an invitation to compete on The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs Australia card where he recorded another first-round finish via guillotine choke over Ryan Jimmo which propelled his name into the spotlight of MMA fans around the world.

Since then, he has been competing for UFC where he has racked up impressive victories against notable opponents such as Nikita Krylov and Ion Cutelaba – both victories coming via technical knockout in the very first round of their respective bouts! His most recent fight ended prematurely due to injury but secured him yet another win nonetheless; this time against Ovince Saint Preux who was considered one of UFC’s top contenders entering into their bout together..
