Kai Kamaka is an up and coming UFC athlete who has quickly gained a reputation as one of the top fighters in the featherweight division. He began his martial arts career at just 8 years old, when he started training in karate and later moved on to Muay Thai, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. With this combination of disciplines under his belt, Kamaka was able to develop a well rounded fighting style that allowed him to excel not only in MMA but also in other combat sports such as amateur boxing.
In 2018 Kai Kamaka signed with Island Fights Promotions, making his pro debut against Roberto Sanchez. After winning that fight by unanimous decision, he went on to earn two more wins before signing with Bellator MMA in January 2019. Since joining the organization he has gone undefeated throughout four fights so far – including three first round finishes – earning himself Fight of The Year honors for 2021 from MMA Weekly for his performance against Damon Jackson.
While Kamaka’s impressive record speaks for itself when it comes to his prowess inside the cage, what may be even more impressive about him is his work outside of it. Born and raised on Oahu’s Waianae Coast where poverty rates are high amongst local families, Kai established himself as a positive role model within his community through motivational speaking engagements at schools throughout Hawaii and through various volunteer efforts such as food drives or appearances at youth centers like Hoop City Waianae or Boys & Girls Club Kapolei where he encourages young people to pursue their dreams no matter how hard they might seem to achieve them initially.
On June 19th 2021 Kai will be competing against fellow Hawaiian fighter Julian Erosa in what promises to be a thrilling matchup between two up-and-coming contenders looking for their first shot at UFC gold down the line; whatever happens though you can expect that he’ll remain focused both inside and outside of competition thanks not only due knowledge obtained from past experiences but also because knowing how much potential there is out there still waiting for someone else willing enough go after it motivates him everyday towards becoming something greater than himself come tomorrow
