BIOGRAPHY

Jose Quinonez is a Mexican-American Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) bantamweight division. He began his career as an amateur wrestler, and is now considered one of the top bantamweights in the sport.

Quinonez was born in Mexico City, Mexico on June 1st, 1989. He started wrestling at only 10 years old, quickly developing a passion for the sport and becoming an amateur champion by age 15. When he was 17 years old, he moved to Guadalajara to continue training and prepare for his professional MMA career. After moving to California two years later, Quinonez made his professional debut against Luis Arturo Olivares in November 2010. He won all three of his fights that year and went undefeated until 2012 when he suffered back-to-back losses against Baret Yoshida and Chris Holdsworth at WEC 49: Varner vs Shalorus 2 respectively.

After regaining momentum with victories over Gabriel Solorio and Ryan Benoit later that year, Quinonez signed with UFC late 2013 where he has since established himself as one of the top contenders in their bantamweight division. In 2014 alone he racked up four wins including KO/TKO victories over Marcus Brimage at UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs Faber 2; Katsunori Kikuno at UFC Fight Night: Jędrzejczyk vs Penne; Danny Martinez at The Ultimate Fighter Latin America Finale; and Johnny Bedford at UFC 171: Hendricks vs Lawler respectively which earned him Performance of The Night Bonuses twice out of those four bouts altogether ultimately leading him towards securing contracts with various sponsors such as Reebok Athlete Program & Venum Clothing Brand amongst others furthering promoting awareness around Quinonez’s success within MMA industry worldwide .
