Johnny Eduardo is a 42-year-old Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) bantamweight division. He began his professional career in 2004, and has since competed for various promotions including Shark Fights and Jungle Fight MMA.
Eduardo was born on November 14, 1977 in Sao Paulo, Brazil to parents Maria and Antonio. Growing up he had an interest in combat sports such as boxing and jiu-jitsu from a young age. His father encouraged him to practice martial arts when he was just 9 years old. He trained diligently throughout his teenage years with the help of some of his mentors like Marcus Vinicius “Vini” Ferreira de Freitas, who taught him the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu at Equipe ACANTHUS Academy. By 17 he was already training with some of Brazil’s top MMA professionals like Andre Pederneiras and Luis Duarte at Nova Uniao Gym where he honed his skills further before turning professional by 2004.
In April 2005 Johnny made his debut against Cesar Arzamendia which ended in an impressive first round submission victory via triangle choke hold earning him Ring Combat 16 – Reaching Glory title belt – becoming the first welterweight champion ever promoted by that organization. This win cemented Eduardo’s reputation as a skilled ground fighter with dangerous submissions techniques which later earned him recognition within Jiu Jitsu circles across Latin America whilst further increasing public awareness about himself as one of Brazil’s top martial artists gaining even more attention after being featured on national television programs during 2008 & 2009 respectively . In July 2010 he signed contract with Ultimate Fighting Championship making it official that Eddie would be joining their ranks amongst other established names from within the world wide sport|of Mixed Martial Arts .
