BIOGRAPHY
Jacob Malkoun is a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and former UFC athlete. He was born in Australia on October 15, 1995. He first started training in MMA at the age of 14, when he joined the Australian Top Team gym. Jacob quickly gained recognition for his skills and dedication, winning local amateur tournaments before turning pro at just 18 years old.
Since turning pro, Jacob has fought in various promotions including Cage Fighting Championships (CFC), Xtreme Combat Promotions (XCP) and Eternal MMA. His most notable accomplishment to date is winning the Cage Fighting Championships middleweight title with a devastating first round knockout victory over reigning champion Nathan Derryman in 2015. After defending his title once more against fellow Aussie veteran Damien Brown later that year, Jacob was signed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
In 2016 he made his debut for UFC with an impressive second-round TKO win over highly rated prospect Justin Ledet at UFC 203: Miocic vs Overeem. After picking up two more victories against Khalil Rountree Jr., and Anthony Smith inside the octagon, it looked as if Jacob’s career was taking off until he ran into former Bellator champion Rafael Lovato Jr., who submitted him via rear naked choke late last year at UFC Fight Night 141: Blaydes vs Ngannou 2 in China. This setback would prove detrimental to Malkoun’s career as despite being considered one of Australia’s top prospects coming out of CFC only months prior to this fight; he lost his next 3 fights consecutively after this defeat leading him to be cut from the promotion following a loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 263: Adesanya vs Vettori 2 earlier this month on June 12th 2021 .
Despite having been released from their roster for now things may not necessarily be all bad news for Jacob as many people believe that due to his young age and potential still remaining; there will likely still be interest from other big name promotions such as Bellator or even possible offers from Asian based organizations like ONE Championship should they come knocking soon enough.. For now however we will have to wait until further notice about what lies ahead for ‘The Beast From Down Under’ but one thing is certain – no matter where or when it happens, you can guarantee that fans can expect plenty of entertaining fights whenever they see Mr Malkoun step into any arena!
