Ismail Naurdiev, a decorated mixed martial artist, was born on August 18, 1996, in Grozny, Chechnya, Russia. His life took a dramatic turn at the tender age of nine in 2004. Amidst the chaos and unrest in his war-torn home city of Grozny, his family sought refuge in Austria, hoping for stability, peace, and a chance at a better life. Hence, this Russian-born prodigy turned Austrian resident embraced his fortune and translated his strife into power by committing himself to the world of combat sports.

Naurdiev began his martial training with wrestling before transitioning into mixed martial arts (MMA) during his teenage years. Unlike seasoned contenders, he started his professional journey without trainers or sparring partners in the initial phase. Unfortunately, he suffered a loss against Jarrah Al-Silawi during the BRAVE CF Super Welterweight Championship due to a leg injury from a kick. However, this setback only furthered his determination, leading to decisive victories against Olli Santalahti and Bekten Zheenbekov.

Nevertheless, the fluctuating fortune of his career continued, evidenced by his loss against Marcin Bandel for the vacant Brave CF Super Welterweight Championship. Soon after enduring another defeat against Vadim Kutsy, Naurdiev took the bold decision to move up to the Middleweight division. Here, he faced and successfully defeated Tahar Hadbi with a guillotine choke.

Now, Ismail Naurdiev, popularly known as “The Austrian Wonderboy” due to his unique and flashy spinning kicks, is poised to step back into the UFC and face Bruno Silva in October 2024.
