BIOGRAPHY

Gilbert Urbina is one of the most experienced and decorated UFC athletes in the sport today. Born and raised in Southern California, he began training at a young age and has developed into a highly skilled martial artist. After winning several amateur titles, Urbina decided to take his career to the next level by turning professional in 2013.

He quickly rose up through the rankings as he compiled an impressive record of twelve wins out of fourteen fights with nine coming via knockout or submission. His aggressive style combined with his technical prowess earned him admiration from fans around the world and soon propelled him into the spotlight.

In 2016 Urbina signed a multi-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) organization after it was announced that he had been added to their roster for light heavyweight division competition. Immediately proving his worth within this prestigious promotion, Gilbert won back-to-back matches against former champions Anthony Johnson & Oezdemir Teixeira before cementing himself as one of its top contenders at 205lbs by defeating rising star Glover Teixeira on points over five rounds at UFC 247 Houston Texas pay per view event in 2020.

Since then despite competing mainly against top 10 ranked opponents such as Jon Jones, Alexander Gustafsson & Corey Anderson; Urbina has continued to find success inside the octagon scoring notable victories against all comers including recent defeats over Johnny Walker & Konstantin Erokhin earning himself “Fight Of The Night” honors on both occasions respectively for their entertaining displays of athleticism and skill set mastery showcased during each battle fought inside said structure.

Outside of fighting Gilbert can be seen regularly attending events giving back to his local community or simply being present showing support when needed whether it be donating time funds or resources towards worthy causes ever since becoming one of UFC’s biggest stars worldwide due to his standout performances which have provided him with numerous accolades throughout years spent honing craft so far within MMA industry itself . He also spends time coaching aspiring martial artists who are looking to make their way into professional fighting leagues such as Bellator or UFC which provides additional insight into game beyond what naked eye can see while offering substantial knowledge based upon experience gained while competing both nationally internationally throughout career thus far .
