Dylan Budka Bio
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), established in 1993, boasts a roster of competent fighters spanning across nations and continents. As of July 21, 2023, this extensive roster of fighting professionals hailed from no less than 73 distinct countries. The current information pays tribute to these extraordinary fighters, their origins, the recent UFC signings, departing fighters, their fighting schedules, results, and the current reigning champions of each weight division that UFC recognizes.
A few of these listed fighters might not be active contributors to the octagon. Their contracts may have been dissolved by UFC, or they may have opted for retirement. Their absence from the official UFC roles forms the basis of their inclusion here if their release or retirement hasn’t been officially announced. Conversely, some fighters may have earned contracts with the UFC and are awaiting their debut, have just re-emerged from a retirement, or haven’t completed a return to the UFC.
In keeping with UFC rules and regulations, some fighters may be temporarily suspended. These suspensions might be triggered and propagated by agencies such as the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) or World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), due to misconduct during fights, or inappropriate behavior at UFC event venues. As of May 16, 2019, 76 UFC fighters were placed under sanction by the USADA following introductions of the UFC USADA testing programme.
The list includes flagicons that accord to UFC’s official broadcasts. However, these flagicons may not fully or accurately represent these fighters’ nationalities.
A panel composed of members from the MMA media fraternity painstakingly ranks these fighters. They cast their votes for UFC’s top fighters – these votes are categorically separated into weight classes and pound-for-pound rankings. A fighter may feature in the rankings of multiple divisions – contingent upon their participation. Interim and reigning champions occupy top-ranking positions in their respective weight classes and are the only fighters eligible for pound-for-pound ranking votes.
Updated as of March 23, 2024, the UFC currently operates under nine weight classes. The champion list is updated regularly, the latest update being March 15, 2024, post UFC 299. As of March 26, 2024, these are the current champions:
1. Amanda Lemos, who was defeated at UFC 292 on August 19, 2023
2. Valentina Shevchenko, who drew at UFC Fight Night 227 on September 16, 2023
3. Marlon Vera, who was defeated at UFC 299 on March 9, 2024
4. Alexander Volkanovski, who was defeated at both UFC 284 on February 12, 2023, and at UFC 294 on October 21, 2023.
This detailed documentation serves as a comprehensive guide to the dynamic world of UFC, providing detailed insights into the fighters, their records, their ranking processes, and updates on the champions of each division.
