Devonte “King Kage”Smith

Devonte Smith is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 26th, 1992, Smith developed a passion for mixed martial arts at a very young age. He joined his first MMA gym when he was just 18 years old and has since put together an impressive career that includes notable wins over Justin Gaethje and Clay Collard.

Smith began his amateur MMA career in 2010 and had amassed a record of 11-1 before making his professional debut in 2013 with a unanimous decision win over Zach Latrell at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 17. He continued to build momentum throughout 2014 and 2015 with victories over Drew Brokenshire, Jesse McElligott, James Esposito and more. By 2016, Smith had compiled an overall professional record of 9-1 which earned him a spot on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series where he picked up another victory via TKO against Joe Lowry.

This earned him a chance to fight inside the UFC octagon for the first time at The Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale where he scored yet another TKO win against Julian Erosa via elbow strikes from side control during round three of their matchup. Since then Devonte has gone onto win two more fights inside the octagon by way of submission against England’s Joseph Duffy as well as John Makdessi via rear naked choke and triangle armbar respectively.

As it stands today Devonte holds an overall fight record of 11-2 with 8 wins coming by way of stoppage (3 KOs/3 Submissions). He will continue to improve upon this impressive resume when he steps back into action next against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Fight Night 169 on March 21st 2020.
