BIOGRAPHY
Brendon Marotte is an American mixed martial artist currently competing in the UFC’s welterweight division. A professional since 2016, he has competed for various promotions such as Bellator MMA and Titan FC.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Brendon Marotte started training in combat sports at a young age with his father. He began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu when he was thirteen years old and earned his black belt at just sixteen. His natural competitive spirit led him to pursue MMA and after two amateur fights, Marotte made his professional debut with XFE in November 2015.
Following a successful start to his career where he won four out of five bouts, Marotte signed up for Bellator MMA’s Welterweight Grand Prix Tournament in June 2019. Despite being matched against seasoned veterans like Michael Page André Fialho, which ended up being an incredibly close fight that could have gone either way on the judges’ scorecards; Marotte ultimately lost by unanimous decision but gained plenty of attention thanks to an impressive performance that went down as one of the best fights in Bellator history.
Marotte then moved on to sign with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) later that year and made his promotional debut against Jason Witt at UFC Fight Night 165: Edgar vs Korean Zombie (December 2019). In what turned out be another exciting bout filled with intense action—Marotte emerged victorious via submission due to rear-naked choke late into the second round of their matchup. This win handed him “Performance Of The Night” honors along with $50k bonus money from UFC for putting on such an entertaining show!
After this impressive start inside Octagon cage—Marottes solidified himself as a top-15 welterweight contender within organization when he beat Sean Brady via unanimous decision at UFC 251 earlier this month (July 2020). With back-to-back wins under his belt now while being only 26 years old—it appears bright future lies ahead for young rising star who continues strive becoming champion some day soon!
