Batgerel Danaa is a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) athlete, currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on June 13th 1991, Danaa grew up with an interest in martial arts and began training as soon as he was old enough. He initially trained to compete in Mongolian Wrestling and Judo competitions, but eventually decided to focus his efforts on MMA.
He made his professional debut in 2012 and quickly rose through the regional ranks due to his impressive striking abilities and resilience inside the cage. In 2017 at 22 years old, he made the jump from regional standout to international contender by signing with UFC, becoming one of only a handful of Mongolian fighters at that level.
At 5’11” tall and 145 lbs., Danaa competes at Featherweight division against some of UFC’s toughest competition. Despite being undersized for the division, Danaa has been able to use his speed and agility to defeat larger opponents on multiple occasions. His record stands at 10-2 which includes victories over experienced veterans such as Andre Fili and Teruto Ishihara . He also holds notable wins over promotional newcomers such as Darrick Minner who he defeated via submission at UFC Fight Night 151: dos Anjos vs Lee back in May 2019 .
Throughout his career Danaa has shown an incredible amount of determination; pushing himself harder than ever before every time he steps into the octagon. His tireless work ethic has led him to become one of Mongolia’s top athletes while inspiring others around him; particularly young people who look up to him for guidance while pursuing their own martial arts ambitions. This sentiment was solidified when after defeating Teruto Ishihara via TKO stoppage back in 2018 , during an interview with Joe Rogan backstage “The Wolf” said “I am here not just for me but also for my nation”.
As part of a growing wave of Asian MMA talent gaining recognition globally many have tipped Batgerel “The Wolf” Danaa as one fighter capable enough taking home world championship gold; something no other Mongolian has achieved thus far . The next few years will be crucial towards realizing this ambition with more grueling fights against elite level opposition surely on its way if/when they resume following current circumstances surrounding Covid-19 pandemic .
