Tim Patrick's Biography

Timothy Mychael Patrick was born on November 23, 1993, in San Diego, California. He was raised by his mother, Marsi Lovett, in a single-parent household with an older brother and a younger sister, from where he took the plunge into a competitive world of athletics. Timothy found his calling in football during his high school years at the University City High School in San Diego, where he showcased his prowess in the field. He played for his school’s team, the Centurions, initiating his journey towards becoming a professional footballer.

After high school, Timothy, widely recognizable as Tim Patrick, attended Grossmont College in El Cajon, California. His football career took a considerable leap in college, notably during the 2013 season with the Griffins. He secured a haul of 964 yards alongside eight touchdowns, earning him All-PCAC honors. This achievement marked just the beginning of the unfolding narrative of his glittering football career.

Later, Patrick transferred to the University of Utah to further his sporting accolades. He made an appearance in 22 games during his tenure and earned the starting position in 23 games. Despite suffering injuries that saw him miss 17 games, he completed his three seasons with 61 catches amounting to 888 yards and five touchdowns. However, he was waived again on September 1 of the same year. Resilience remained Patrick’s trusted comrade as he was signed to the Denver Broncos’ practice squad in October. His football career with Broncos was a mix of highs and lows. Scoring his first professional receiving touchdown on a 24-yard reception was among the celebrated moments of his career. During the 2018 season, he made an impressive total of 23 receptions for 315 yards and a touchdown. However, after suffering a broken hand in Week 1 of the 2019 season, he was placed on injured reserve. His comeback was inspiring when Broncos reactivated him later in the same year.

In 2020, Patrick signed a one-year exclusive-rights free agent tender with the Broncos. The prolonged battles on the field heightened his records as he marked career highs against the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins in the same year. He concluded the year with 51 receptions for 742 receiving yards and six touchdowns in total.

In 2021, Patrick signed a one-year contract with Broncos after being given a second-round restricted free agent tender by the team. The same year saw him sign a significant three-year, $34.5 million contract extension with the Broncos, reflecting his conspicuous contribution to the team over the years. He completed the 2021 season with notable records, though his season in 2022 was cut short due to an unfortunate ACL tear during a practice session.

The Broncos chose to part ways with Patrick in 2024, and he was later signed by the Detroit Lions.
