Terrace Marshall Jr.'s Biography

Terrace Marshall Jr. is a professional football wide receiver whose remarkable talent has led him to the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). Born on June 9, 2000, Marshall has had a career marked not just with flourishing skill, but also unrivaled perseverance, surmounting adversities with grace and determination. Marshall’s journey, however, begins at home in Bossier City, Louisiana, where at Parkway High School, he first began establishing himself as a standout player.

In his junior year at Parkway, Marshall displayed a keen command of the game. With 55 receptions for 1,250 yards and 15 touchdowns, it became clear that he was a player of exceptional potential. His talent and achievement at a young age did not go unnoticed, as he was named Shreveport Times Male Athlete of the Year.

Marshall’s senior year was met with adversity, with an ankle injury sidelining him for most of the season. Still, his prior performance and unwavering dedication were enough for him to be named a 2018 Under Armour All-American. Following high school, Marshall, the five-star recruit, then proceeded to commit to Louisiana State University (LSU) to continue his journey in college football.

During his 2018 tenure as a true freshman at LSU, Marshall played in 13 games with a single start. Furthermore, despite playing a limited number of games, he impressively recorded 12 receptions for 192 yards. It was in 2019 that he made his mark as one of LSU’s top trio receivers, alongside Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. Despite missing three games due to injury, he scored 13 touchdowns, managing to make impressive scores in high-stakes games, cementing his status as a crucial asset to the team.

November 29, 2020, marked another significant moment in Marshall’s career, for he declared for the 2021 NFL draft, thereby withdrawing from the remainder of the 2020 college football season. Until his declaration, he had achieved 731 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns in just seven games, ranking third in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

In the second round of the 2021 NFL draft, Marshall was selected by the Carolina Panthers as the 59th overall pick. On June 17, 2021, he penned his first professional contract, a four-year rookie deal with the Panthers worth $5.7 million. His rookie season saw him recording 17 receptions for 138 receiving yards over 13 games. By the ninth week of the 2022 season, he indeed caused a stir as he scored his first professional touchdown on a 21-yard reception.

By the end of the 2022 season, Marshall’s remarkable skill was more evident than ever, recording 28 receptions for 490 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in just 14 games. However, adversity struck once more as he was waived by the Panthers on August 27, 2024.

Marshall, however, was far from finished. He demonstrated his tenacity by signing with the San Francisco 49ers practice squad on August 29, 2024. After an ensuing release by the 49ers on October 15, Marshall transitioned on October 22, 2024, to the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad, the team he presently represents.

Marshall’s life and career are rife with resilience and commitment, showcasing not just his football prowess but also his character. His tenacity in his path as a professional football player is undoubtedly inspired by his uncle, Joe Delaney, a player who similarly left his mark in the NFL and sacrificed his life attempting to save three children from drowning in 1983, before Marshall was born.
