Quincy Williams, born on August 28, 1996, now stands as a celebrated figure in the world of American professional football. He has masterfully maneuvered his way through his career, positioning himself as a valuable linebacker for the acclaimed New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). His journey to reach the professional landscape of football is equally riveting and starts at Murray State University.

Williams, during his tenure at Murray State University, played in multiple positions with admirable prowess. He began his journey in his freshman year of 2014, opting to redshirt to bide his time and hone his skills. The following year saw him appear in 11 games with three starts, signaling his formal plunge into the world of college football.

In 2015, Williams had a full season in college football, during which he exhibited impressive football acumen with 31 tackles and a pass breakup. The subsequent year saw further development in his game, with him playing in 10 games, once again starting in three. Despite this being one game short of the previous season, he efficiently managed 32 tackles, going solo in 13 of these with plenty of pass breakups as well.

As William’s senior year unlatched, he displayed extreme dedication by participating in all 11 games. His marksmanship and precision resulted in 78 tackles coupled with two interceptions. Highlighting his exceptional performance was one pick-six, signaling his rise to potential stardom.

In 2019, Williams saw his hard work realize results. The Jacksonville Jaguars, recognizing his potential, drafted him in the third round, making him the 98th overall pick in the NFL draft. This fortune came to Jacksonville as a byproduct of a deal that sent Dante Fowler to the Los Angeles Rams.

Williams’ debut season was met with mixed results. Despite being named the starting outside linebacker for the Jaguars and playing 11 games with eight starts, his season was prematurely ended due to injury. He was placed on injured reserve December 11, 2019, finishing his season with a total of 48 tackles.

The following year, Williams returned, but not without facing further injury. He was designated to return from the injured reserve in September 2020 and resumed practice with his team. By October 10, 2020, Williams was fully activated.

On August 31, 2021, Williams found himself waived by the Jaguars. This led to the New York Jets claiming Williams off waivers on September 1, 2021.

October 3, 2021, proved to be a memorable day for the Williams’ family. Quincy, along with his brother, Quinnen Williams, a defensive lineman also playing for the Jets, made history. The Williams siblings became the first pair of brothers to achieve sacks in the same game for the same team since the official recognition of sacks as a statistic in 1982. The Williams brothers combined their strengths to achieve an impressive 19 tackles, which paved the way for the Jets’ overtime victory against the Tennessee Titans.

In 2022, however, Quincy fell into disrepute after a late hit on Jalen Hurts during the first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, resulting in a hefty fine.

Come 2023, Williams was bestowed with two things: a renewed contract extending three years worth $18 million and the coveted title of American Football Conference Defensive Player of the Month in October.
