Miles Sanders is an American football running back for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played college football at Penn State, where he rushed for 1,274 yards and 9 touchdowns his junior season in 2018 earning first-team All-Big Ten honors.
Sanders grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Woodland Hills High School, where he rushed for 2,627 yards and 43 touchdowns over his career there including a senior season which saw him rush for 1,246 yards on 133 carries and 19 touchdowns. Following high school Sanders committed to play college ball at Penn State University after receiving offers from more than 20 other schools such as Clemson and Michigan.
At Penn State Sanders had a successful career as he was part of three different bowl games with them during his four years; The Pinstripe Bowl 2016 (Freshman), The Fiesta Bowl 2017 (Sophomore) and finally The Citrus Bowl 2018 (Junior). His best year came during that junior season when he set career highs with 220 carries for 1,274 rushing yards to go along with nine rushing touchdowns all while averaging 5.8 yards per carry in 12 games played. This performance earned him First Team All-Big 10 Honors making him one of just two players since 2014 to earn such honors from Penn State’s backfield division amongst other accomplishments like being named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player Of The Week twice throughout his collegiate tenure; once against Iowa on September 23rd 2017 another against Indiana on October 28th 2018 plus many more accolades over those 4 years endeared himself not only to fans but scouts alike resulting in him being selected by The Philadelphia Eagles 53rd overall pick during Round Two Of The 2019 NFL Draft thus officially starting Miles Sanders journey into professional football.
