Michael Bandy's Biography

Michael Bandy, born December 5, 1997, is an accomplished American professional footballer whose area of specialization is the wide receiver position. Currently, he is on the Denver Broncos’ team, a respectable football team part of the National Football League (NFL). This journey of becoming a prominent NFL player began with colleges football playing for San Diego.

Much of his formative football years were also dominated by his engagement with the Los Angeles Chargers, another esteemed team in the NFL. Bandy’s stint with the Chargers spanned a significant part of his professional career, from 2021 to 2022.

During his time with the San Diego Toreros, Bandy had shown immense potential. His record with the team spanned four seasons, where he showcased his impressive skills. By the time his stay with the Toreros came to an end, Bandy had solidified his position as an exceptional player with 192 receptions, 3,294 receiving yards, and 28 receiving touchdowns.

Despite his talent, Bandy had an unsteady start following his unselection in the 2020 NFL draft. Nevertheless, he managed to secure a spot in The Spring League, which kept him in the football sphere. Then, a turning point in his career arrived when he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Chargers on June 18, 2021.

Bandy’s career with the Chargers swung between moments of uncertainty and triumph. He was waived on August 16, 2021, only to be re-signed four days later. Similar events unfolded towards the end of August when he was waived during final roster cuts and was re-signed to the practice squad the succeeding day.

Despite these fluctuations, Bandy secured a spot on the active roster for Week 16 game against the Houston Texans on December 26, 2021. Making his first NFL debut in the game, this moment marked a significant milestone in his career. Bandy successfully maintained his credibility as an emerging player by signing a reserve/future contract with the Chargers on January 11, 2022.

However, this journey was further punctuated by ups and downs. On August 30, 2022, Bandy was waived the Chargers yet again, but found solace in re-signing to the practice squad a day later. His tenacity was soon rewarded with his promotion to the active roster on October 22.

Journeying through the fluctuating path of a professional footballer, Bandy became a free agent on March 15, 2023. His skills caught the attention of the Houston Roughnecks, with whom he signed a contract on March 29, 2023. This new venture saw Bandy playing in two games and catching five passes for 35 yards. The relationship with the Roughnecks was short-lived, and Bandy was released from his contract on July 29, 2023.

Undeterred, Bandy found a new opportunity with the Denver Broncos with whom he signed a contract on July 28, 2023. Echoing the pattern of his professional journey, the Broncos waived him on August 29, 2023, only to have him re-signed to the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on December 30, demonstrating his resilience. On August 27, 2024, Bandy’s journey with the Broncos came to a hasty pause when he was waived from the team. However, he maintains his connection with the team, having re-signed to the practice squad the next day.
