BIOGRAPHY

An in-depth look at the career of Mark Glowinski II, an American footballer born on May 3, 1992, unfolds his journey from a college football player to becoming an NFL player. Mark Glowinski is recognized as an accomplished guard but is currently a free agent.

Mark initially played college football at West Virginia, marking the beginning of his football career. However, his engagement with football predates West Virginia, where he played at Lackawanna College, sharpening his skills before paving his journey toward mainstream football.

Drafted in the fourth round in the 2015 NFL draft, Glowinski began his trajectory with the Seattle Seahawks. It was a remarkable opportunity for the young player, as the Seahawks recognized him as the 134th overall in the sport’s competitive landscape. Mark then took the baton of his career to outstanding and evolving heights in the subsequent years.

In 2016, Mark reached another milestone when he earned the starting left guard spot, progressing to start all 16 games for the Seattle Seahawks. With his dedication and unparalleled skills, Glowinski had established himself as a promising player to watch.

Heading into the 2017 season, Mark assumed another critical role as the Seahawks’ starting right guard. His tenure remained for the first two games, after which Oday Aboushi replaced him as the starting right guard. The other position was taken over by the seasoned Luke Joeckel, while Ethan Pocic, a rookie, filled the primary backup spot.

Amidst these shifts in the team, Glowinski’s ranking was altered to fourth on the depth chart at guard. However, strength comes in facing adversity. When Oday Aboushi suffered an injury, resulting in rookie Pocic’s emergence as a starter opposite Joeckel, Glowinski faced a career shift. He was waived by the Seattle Seahawks on December 16, 2017.

Just two days after this departure, on Dec 18, 2017, Glowinski was claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts. Starting the season as a backup, he managed to become the starting right guard in Week 6 following a season-ending injury to Matt Slauson. He then served as a starter for most of the season’s end, casting his role in nine of the last 11 games.

In a significant advancement on January 29, 2019, Glowinski signed an extended three-year contract with the Colts, worth $18 million, binding him with the team through the 2021 season. Moving forward, on March 17, 2022, he signed another substantial three-year contract with the New York Giants worth $20 million.

However, the journey wasn’t always smooth for Glowinski. On September 17, 2023, after a poor performance against the Dallas Cowboys during Week 1 of the season, he was benched. Marcus McKethan took over as the starting right guard for the second week against the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite the downs, Mark’s journey didn’t cease there. Glowinski was released by the Giants on March 4, 2024, leading him to become a free agent once more. Mark Glowinski’s journey is a testament to the sportsman’s spirit – facing both lauds and setbacks but continuing to evolve with dedication, nonetheless.
